So today I had a hankering for some homemade bread, now keep in mind it has been a while since I’ve tried to make my own. This Irish Soda Bread is a quick and easy way to make homemade bread without the long-term process. 45 minutes and you are done and can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
How to Make Irish Soda Bread
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of baking soda
- 1½ cups of buttermilk
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix your flour, salt and baking soda.
- Make a small hole in the center of the bowl and pour in your buttermilk.
- Mix the ingredients until the dough forms. Do not overmix o it will become tough.
- Place the dough onto your prepared baking pan with the parchment paper.
- Use a sharp knife to score a deep x on top of the bread.
- Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Tap the bottom of the bread and listen for the hollow sound.
- Allow the bread to cool on a cooling rack before serving.
